Bismarck Homecoming 2010 - Part 2

This will mostly be a picture post as I want to look back when I'm old and remember Kam's day as princess!

Once we got over Sybil's meltdown, we headed to the gym for pictures before the coronation and pep rally.  We had to be there an hour and a half to two hours before the ceremony so we had entirely too much time on our hands in an all-white dress!

We took tons of pictures of Kamdyn and Levi....
 Don't they look adorable?
 Kamdyn and Mal....
Posing with the lion.... the lion actually entertained Kam and Levi for a good amount of time while we were waiting...
They had pizza for the homecoming court, which tasted great, but made me extremely nervous in an all-white dress.  I didn't let Kam get within 2 feet of me with that pizza for fear of what would happen to her dress.
As I said, we had a lot of time on our hands so we took lots of pictures and tried to keep the kids occupied and clean!  This is Levi's dad's motorcycle and we thought it would be a great photo op.  I'm thinking this picture looks like "runaway bride" to me!
More pictures!  I had to include this picture because of Kam's pose... If you know her at all, you know this is her standard pose.  I think it cracked everyone up because I heard several comments on it.
Can you say future prom picture?  We all just died laughing when they struck this pose because it so looks like a prom picture!  Levi's mom said that we need to save this picture for about ten years down the road.
Back outside again.... I really like this picture!
In all the time we had to kill, we had a few issues with Kam's slip.  Because she wouldn't pull it up, it kept showing below her dress.  We took it off, put it back on, and then ended up ditching it because, well, you know how Kam is!!  She stomped off from me several times while I was trying to talk to her about it before everyone started arriving.

In this picture, Mark had just told her to "mind her momma!" and then got a kiss from her.  So sweet!
While we were waiting to come out, the elementary students were walking in to the bleachers.  Kam stood at the top of the stairs and waved and talked to all of her friends who came in.  I told Mom she acted like a preacher shaking hands and waving at everyone.  Her friends just oohed and ahhed when they saw her (we were standing at the top of the locker room stairs) and Kam was just eating it all up!  Some of the kids from the upper bleachers were hollering at her and she just waved and acted like the princess she was!  She kept turning to me and saying, "it's like a dream, Mommy!"  Those moments were priceless to me!
I actually missed watching Kam and Levi walk in because I had to wait in the lobby with her so my view wasn't as good as the rest of the families.  While we were waiting, she was talking non-stop to the girls in front of us.  She told the girl in front of her, "I hope you get to be the queen!"

My camera battery actually went dead at this point (wouldn't you know it?!) and thankfully, JJ had hers so I was able to take more pictures.  I'll post those later.
Kam really got into the pep rally and stood up and danced when the girls did.  They were so sweet to her and actually grabbed her hands and danced with her!
Afterwards with sweet Sydney...
At this point, we had a little over an hour to run home, freshen up and come back for the night ceremony.  I'll post those pics next time!

Bismarck Homecoming 2010 - Part 1

As I mentioned earlier, Kamdyn was chosen to be the homecoming princess this year at Bismarck.  When I told her she was chosen she gasped and had that ahhhh! look on her face before saying, "what's that?"  Once she figured out that she was a princess and there was  a prince, she was very excited about it (I honestly think I was more excited--what can I say?  I'm a proud mommy)!

Her hairdresser was doing one of the senior maid's hair also and they were gracious enough to just let us come to their house to get her hair done there.  Saved me a lot of time driving and little did I know how much I would need the extra time!
At this point, Kam was having a good time with the girls--just talking and laughing about anything and everything in that non-stop way that is Kamdyn.  I can't say enough how sweet the girls were to her.  They even gave her a "future BHS cheerleader" shirt.  Kamdyn was having the best time talking to them and playing with Annabelle, the puppy, whom she fell in love with!
Things were still going well at this point....
And then Sybil was unleashed!!!  It all started when Lindsey began putting Kam's hair up on her head.  She asked Lindsey a hundred questions about it before she even got started.  Kam is so particular about her hair now and I can't tell you how many mornings she and I have come to blows over her hair.  I tried to prepare her before we went by telling her that she had to wear a crown and that more than likely her hair would have to be up.  She seemed ok with that then...
At first, she started crying.  The girls quickly reassured her how pretty her hair looked, etc. but that didn't help at all.  Before I knew it, she went ballistic...and I am not exaggerating!  She was shouting at me that it was all my fault (which seems to be a theme lately) and that Lindsey was making her hair "look awful!"  She kept swiping at her hair and I know Lindsey had to start over several times.  The more we tried to reassure her, the more upset she became!

Now had we been somewhere where I could have taken her out and spanked her, I would have!  I was beyond mortified and honestly didn't know what to do.  She threw a fit unlike I have ever witnessed...she even took a swing at me when I leaned down in her face to try to calm her down.

Lindsey was great and did the best she could with Kam acting the fool that she was.  I think the girls were a little surprised and the other mom was very understanding.  I think she felt bad for me!  We left and headed home to finish getting dressed before leaving for pictures.  We only live about 5-6 miles from there and I can assure you that I let Kamdyn have it the entire way home!  Then we had  a "come to Jesus" meeting once we got home and she calmed down eventually!  She was very apologetic later and then acted like her hair was the greatest!  Of course!!

I have to remind myself that she's only five and that she doesn't see these things the way I do. I also thought dress shopping would be fun, but trying on 15 "poofy" dresses with a five year old is not all it's cracked up to be!

Bismarck Bar-B-Queen

What was I thinking when I asked Kamdyn if she wanted to enter the Bismarck Bar-B-Queen pageant recently???    Yes, you heard me right.  Bar-B-Queen.   We have been asked to do pageants before and I never even considered it because of Kam's ever-changing moods.  Now that she's older, I thought this might be a good first pageant and she was excited to enter.

Here is JJ getting her ready on Saturday afternoon.  Let me just say that Mark was not excited about the makeup....and that is an understatement.  He was still talking about it Saturday night.
Jamie entered Campbell in the baby division so that seemed like another good reason to enter.

As soon as we got backstage, I was nervous and was pretty sure this pageant stuff was not for me.  Kam didn't like her slip or her hair or the fact that people could see her changing... what did I get myself into?
Once she was ready, she was anxious to get on stage.  She kept peeking her head out to see what was going on.   There was entirely too much time before her category and she was extremely antsy.
There were some beautiful little girls that Kam got to visit with backstage...Sadie (far left) won second-runner up.  She is in Cooper's AWANA class and she is a hoot!
Finally out on stage....she was very impatient backstage and kept asking when it was her turn.
Jamie worked all morning long with Kam on her turns and walk.... but she forgot to do all that when she got on stage.  Most of the girls did the same thing so she wasn't the only one.
I am sure I am biased but I thought Kam was the prettiest girl on stage.  There were 17 girls in her category (Miss Tiny Tot, I think they called it!) so there was a lot of competition.

Campbell won first-runner up and Miss Photogenic in her category.  I'm thinking I should have entered Kam at that age--no attitude to deal with!
Even though she got a trophy, Kam was very upset that she didn't win.  When we got backstage, she started telling me that it was my fault she didn't win.  Several people at church on Sunday told me they heard that she didn't win because I didn't vote for her with the judges.    She is extremely competitive like her daddy and doesn't like to lose.  As a matter of fact, he had told her the night before, "you better win!" and they laughed.  Of course, I was mortified and told her that all that mattered was that she had fun.

All in all, it was a good experience for her.  She is the Bismarck Homecoming Princess this year and she will get to dress up again in a "poofy" dress on Friday.  More on that later....  Until then, don't expect to see us on "Toddlers and Tiaras" anytime soon!

Cooper's Party at Mae's

Cooper had his birthday party at school about a week after his actual birthday in August.  He is always out of school on his birthday but this year we decided to have a party later on at school in addition to his family party.  I couldn't stand the thought of him never having a party at preschool.

Here he is with the boys in his class.... guess who the wild one is?
Aidan, Cooper, and Jace... for the longest time it was just Cooper and Aidan in class together.  They are excited to have some more boys to balance out the "stinky" girls now!  And, yes, that's what Cooper calls them sometimes!

When we got to school everyone started saying happy birthday to Cooper and he finally said, "it's not my birthday today!"  Mrs. Mae is explaining to the kids that Coop's birthday was actually while they were  all at home on vacation.

Cooper putting his candles on his cake and then counting them.....

Mrs. Mae giving Cooper his birthday spanking or "wuv taps" as Coop calls them....

Getting ready to blow out his candles on his cupcake....
I can't believe my Cooper Bear is 4 years old now.  Time flies!  I still haven't found the pictures from his big party at Timber Lodge.  I'm so afraid they are gone forever!

Queen for a Day

Kam's teacher sent me this picture this morning because she is "Queen for the Day!" today. She quoted Kam saying "I can't believe this is happening to me!" HA! Sounds just like something she would say. She has been dying to be the queen so I know she will be excited. I can't wait to hear all about it tonight.
Notice that her favorite color is brown, which is news to me. She's normally a pink or purple kind of girl. I also think it's funny that she said her favorite food is cheeseburgers. Last night when I asked her that same question for the BBQ pageant entry, she told me chicken nuggets and pizza.

Congratulations, Queen Kamdyn!
