Easter 2011

We had a fun and busy weekend celebrating Easter.  We went to a community Easter egg hunt at school on Saturday that the kids enjoyed.  Mark pointed out that it didn't last forever and the kids had fun and that was perfect by his standards!
This was more like a race to grab eggs rather than a hunt....
They just down right refused to cooperate with me on a picture...
Kam tried on her Easter dress Saturday morning and threw a fit about it "itching" her.  I knew that we would all be miserable if I made her wear it (flashback to Brian's wedding), so we took it back that afternoon and found another dress.  The kids were anxious to dye Easter eggs so we had to buy the "sweet tarts" as Kam calls them to dye the eggs.
No matter what kit I buy, we never get our eggs to turn out looking that great.  However, the kids loved the wrappers and thought it was magic the way they shrunk around the egg.
Kam and Mark insisted on making Oreo balls for Easter Sunday.  The kids were a lot of help...
Oreo's gross me out so I was more than happy to let them lick the beaters!
Kam had chocolate all over her!
The kids kept talking about what the Easter bunny was going to bring them and I started to get worried that they were going to be sorely disappointed.  I bought them Magic Springs season passes and planned to put those in their baskets along with some candy.  Although the passes aren't cheap, you know how a 6 and 4-year old think!  Of course, Mark said that was more than enough!
Wouldn't you know it though...I left the bag of stuff I bought at Wal-Mart and had to make do with what I could find at home.   I totally recycled candy and some goodies I had stashed and my kids never even caught on!
Last year we started scattering eggs in the yard on Easter morning for the kids to gather when they woke up.  I had Mark get up to go put them out in the yard and I'm pretty sure he put out about 6-7 eggs.  Is he serious?
Before bed the night before, we made sure that we discussed the true meaning of Easter with the kids.  Kam was so excited to celebrate it she could hardly stand it!  I thought that was awesome!!

Kam's Music Program

Last night, we went to Kam's music program at school.  The kids were singing folk songs so they were supposed to dress like a hillbilly.  I knew this would be an issue for Kam and she made it clear that she did not want to dress "hillbillish!"  She absolutely refused to let me put freckles on her face.  Nevertheless, she looked cute and fit right in with everyone.
If you notice, Kam is looking everywhere but at the music teacher and she's not waving her flag high like the others....
She was a little more interested in the boy next to her....

And hiding from me while I tried to take pictures of her!  Because I couldn't get a good picture from where I was sitting (notice the heads in the above pictures), I moved up front like every other parent with a camera there to get some close ups.  Not a good idea.
Here's a little video of Kam while I was trying to film.  The boy next to her cracks me up trying to keep her at arm's length.  Smart boy!!!
I decided I needed to go back to my seat in the back because I knew this was coming...
She still put her hand up every time Mark or I tried to take a picture...
This picture is so Kamdyn....she wasn't actually mad here, but it sure looks like it!  The boy to the left of her is Dane, who she went to Mae's with her.  We love Dane and his family!
Canon in the hat.... Braden's class performed at 6:00 so we missed his class.
Cooper sat with the Schultz/Thacker family most of the time we were there.  Here he is on Danny's lap.... my dad had to work so I think he just needed a Grandpa's lap to sit on!
When we left last night, Uncle Ronnie gave Kam the thumbs up sign and said, "keep up the good work, Kam!"  Then Mom emailed me this morning to ask me how the "little social butterfly" was doing today.... when I emailed her a few pics, she said she laughed out loud!  I think I may have the "class clown" on my hands and I love it!

Blue Angels Softball

Kam had her first softball game on Tuesday night and did great!  I think she actually enjoyed it and I think it's so much better than t-ball for her.  She was so excited when she got her "outfit" as she called it Monday night and told me that she was "totally wearing it to school the next day!"

The girls before the game... I think Kam is laughing and talking in almost every picture on here.
Kam and our neighbor, Kenzie, before the game...
She was pretty pumped about the game...

They put her on second base, which was kind of exciting to me because I always played second base.  However, I didn't dance on top of second base like she did!
Ready for some action -- and a little conversation!!  She pretty much talked the whole game.  Mom kept telling me that she didn't know what Kam was saying but the coach kept smiling and laughing!
Going after a ball.... it was pretty cute because her team has not quite learned the fundamentals yet.  Therefore, everyone went after the ball and then didn't know what to do with it when they got it.  Kam played pitcher the second inning and stopped a few balls.  At one point, when the bases were loaded, mom and I both yelled "tag her" when the girl was running home and Kam just looked at us like, "what the heck are you talking about?"  So we need to work on fundamentals....but it was so much fun to watch and I love that it's not that serious at this age!
Playing in the dirt in between innings...
She batted twice and got one hit without the tee and then hit off the tee one time as well.  If you're keeping up, Mark owes her $1.  I'll let you know when and if he ever pays up!!!
My helmet's too little....
I made it home.  Now what?

Caney Kids T-Ball

Cooper's first t-ball game was Friday night and let me tell you it was FREEZING!!  It felt more like football weather.  Kam was climbing the fence, literally, before the game started.
Mark promised Cooper he would give him $1 for every hit he got without the tee.  I know.  You're seeing a pattern with Mark and bribery.  The sad thing is he never has any cash on him and usually forgets to give the kids the money until I remind him.  Mom says the kids should protest!  She always has cash and the kids know who to go to when they want something from the concession stand...
Cooper's first bat.  It was so cute.  When he got up to the plate, he told the coach "no tee, I want you to throw it to me."
Running to first....
I think he jumped up and down several times on first...
I missed the best picture of all - Cooper sliding into home about 3 feet too soon!   It was so cute!  I love t-ball.  It's fun and not serious.  After one inning (which lasts about 35 minutes with every kid batting), the parents decided it was too cold and we called the game and went home.

Last night, we were a split family for the first time.  Kamdyn had her first softball game at 6:00 and Cooper's game started at 6:30.  We all watched the first half of Kam's game and then Mark took Cooper to his.  What I didn't know is that we missed pictures because Mark failed to read the flyer he got last week or hand it to me.  So........it's a good thing I take pictures because Coop won't be in any of the "official" ones!!
The bad thing about t-ball is that it takes forever!  I guess maybe that's a good thing because I did get to see Coop bat one time.  He never made it to the field though.... it started lightning and we called the game again.  Maybe one day we can actually get in a full game!

Lazy Saturday

Kam had school last Saturday and Mark told her he would give her a $1 if she wouldn't go.  I know.  That sounds backwards....but he (we) really didn't want to have to get up and take her and then go wait in that ridiculous car-rider line later that afternoon.  She really wanted to go though because they were having a picnic on the playground.  So we did what any parent would do.....we bribed her with a picnic at home.  When you couple that with the $1, how could she say no?
I must admit that we got in a hurry getting ready for a birthday party and the whole picnic thing slipped my mind -- but not Kamdyn's.  So I told her to go outside and I would bring her lunch out there....notice the kids are in their pajamas.  The sun was shining so they thought they needed shade, hence the umbrella!
Mark worked outside and he and Coop decided they needed to watch a little baseball and relax before we left for the party....
Kam and Abby at Caleb's party....
Bo and Coop in search of prize eggs....

Cooper found the golden egg that had $5 in it!
Kam blowing bubbles at the birthday boy.....
Cooper LOVED the bean bag toss.  I think I see a baggo game in our future.  He totally got into it!
I absolutely love lazy Saturdays and am already looking forward to next Saturday!!

Baseball Season Begins

Cooper's first t-ball game is tonight and I'm looking so forward to it!  We can't call it t-ball around him because he gets mad and corrects us.....he's playing baseball he says!
Mark has promised him $1 for every hit he gets without the tee so we'll see what happens!  Go Caney Kids!!
Cooper is really into sports now and I often find him watching ESPN and baseball now in the mornings, when he would usually be watching cartoons.  The other night I went in the living room and I said, "who's winning?" and he said, "TB."  I had to chuckle because he doesn't yet know that TB stands for Tampa Bay....I think he's trying to figure out who he likes and everyone in my family has a different favorite team!  I bought him a Yankee shirt yesterday (they didn't have Cubs in his size) so I know my Dad will love that!!
